SALUTATIONS
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
INTRODUCTION
This is a monthly newsletter of the Garissa Muslim Children’s Home also referred to Dar-al-Aytam in short (Dar) in Arabic. The center was established in 1969 by the Young Muslim Association to provide care and protection to orphans and destitute children. Other than the orphans, the center has offered education to hundreds of children through its constituent institutions such as the nursery school, primary school, madrasa and high school. Services offered to the community include, Da’wah, Iftar, Qurbani, peace and reconciliation, water, mosques, advocacy and networking.
YOUNG MUSLIM PRIMARY SCHOOL (PUBLIC)
YMPS – commenced special morning programmes for class seven girls to alleviate their academic standards.
Three pupils from our institution participated in the national athletics championship in Nairobi.
YOUNG MUSLIM HIGH SCHOOL – MATHS CONTEST
On 25th June 2006,Ten Young Muslim High School Students comprising of 6 Form 4s and Four form 3s attended the National Mathematics contest held at Mangu High school and obtained a mean score of 3.8.This is the second time the students are participating in such a contest. Their patron Mr. Mustafa baraza accompanied them.
WARDEN DEPARTMENT
CLEANLINESS COMPETITION
There was an Inter-house competition in general cleanliness. This is a continuous exercise to be conducted on all Saturdays. The best Dormitory was Darul-Arkam house in the first leg. They were awarded several prices including a trophy and certificate.
NEW ASSTANT WARDEN
Bro.Suleiman Abdirahman who was an Imam in Nairobi replaced Sheikh Farah Siyat Who left work voluntarily on 1st July 2006. Bro Suleiman took over the duties as an assistant Warden and dorm master for Darul-Arkam from 2nd July 2006.
ADMISSION 2006.
This is a routine annual activity conducted by the Association. This year a total of 21 orphans were admitted to the home as follows:-

COMPLETED PROJECTS
RENOVATION OF STORE
Bro.Musa Nasoro who is the head of Repair and maintenance department reported that by virtue of being economical and future oriented the center has renovated one of the old stores. These will assist in storing used items that will be useful for other purposes in future.
ON-GOING PROJECTS
TAHFEEZ PROJECT
The above project was started in March this year and is progressing well. Now it's nearly in completion.
DUKSI PROJECT:
In order to meet the needs of the children in Memorizing the Holy Quran, The management specifically the Director- Sheikh Mot-iul-Rasool (Jazakalahu Kheyran) decided to set up a new 30’x40’ building for the Duksi. Previously the Duksi students were using one of the staffs’ houses as an educational center.

Discipline: Well disciplined young boy. Always looks clean and composed.
Attends Class regularly and punctual in all activities including prayers.
Generally a child with all the desired qualities.
